A post for November 26, 2009
Milestones and achievements should be noted and remembered. And when I recently bagged the Yearly Dell Elite Manager of the Year for 2009, I knew I had to post this. A lot has happened the past weeks and I don't know why I forgot to put this here. Been very busy!
I don't want to sound bitter but I this is the 1st time in 4 years that the company has been giving this award that no portable/laptop was given. And it sucked big time. Add to the injury and insult, people have been flabbergasted to know that the award I got was just that. And I have to explain the whole thing about the rewards and recognition changes that happened the past year due to the Global Economic Crisis for the Dell Elite Awarding. Yup, It's all Recognition now. No More Rewards.
But I'd like to thank the people who believed in me despite my shortcomings. Thank you God for this blessing.
I'm not sure if I'm really looking forward to 2010 despite this but I feel the need to change. And that last sentence means a lot to me.
Reflection
I don't know what to feel. But this song is perfect for capturing everything I'm feeling today.
For those who can discern, you're either good or I'm just too transparent.

Been a while
It's been a while since I last posted. A lot of stressors at work due to the Yearly Performance Appraisal of my techs, demands of the work (revenue, CE, etc ), and trying to have a life during weekends. Ive been sick twice for the past 3 weeks and been losing weight.
Tried Muay Thai as an added activity to boxing. I'm always having muscle pains and had to take a lot of pain relievers. I love the trainer though. Very focused and a charmer. He's giving me the motivation I need.
Work sucks due to the "un"professionalism of the new hires. Some are very very bad eggs!
Not too sure if I'm looking forward to the new year. Who knows? Something promising and special may happen for me that I deserve.

Fun
I actually don't remember when I had my last fun moment... Went to Malate with some friends and I actually enjoyed it. Spending time with friends and some new found friends is very enriching. After having one of the most stressful work weeks ever I actually had fun last night and the bliss still lingers. I hesitated last night since I didn't get enough sleep but glad that I did.
Thank God. I hope I can get to enjoy more often. I will make it a point to do so moving forward. C, you're the best! Thanks for the invite!

You left
When I went to box today, the receptionist greeted me with: "Sir, wala na po si Elden ( my boxing trainer )." I asked: "Nasan sya? Bakit?" She replied, "Umalis na po." And when I pressed for more answers she just answered: "Basta po. Pili na lang po kayo ng ibang trainers dyan or yung bago."
I had to settle for Richard. I was able to box with him previously and I had a very difficult time. He had different styles in terms of how I should punch and add to the fact that he's smaller than Elden. Well, I had to endure that the second time around.
It's like dancing (as if I ever danced! ), when you change partner you warily adapt. I guess in 2 - 3 sessions I'd be able to cope with how we exchange the punches.
I think it's safe to say that I'm a person who accepts changes ( esp at work ) and I like it more when the rest of my peers DON'T like the change - the more I get excited. I guess it's just me. I like observing how people react to drastic changes and what they do to cope. I like it when people in the office are in chaos. Don't know why. I really felt for the JOKER when he mentioned this sadistic intentions to the people of Gotham City to The Batman.
I've mentioned this previously to my boss when we had our 1x1 and I know she finds this weird. I guess I'm just hard to understand.

Stressful Night
I had a very stressful 1st night at the office. Just as I had suspected. I tried my best not to show it but it was just too obvious. I wonder how the rest of my fellow managers do it? One thing I can say ( and maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it ) - no one is more hands on with regards to the well-being of my technicians like I do. And I say that with my head up high. I invest a LOT of TIME and EFFORT in ensuring that my techs take their career seriously. I take it seriously because that's the basic expectation that this company I am working for expects from us. I just can't stand to watch people, techs, managers, who take for granted what they have - some playing games, senseless meetings, going beyond the allotted breaks or lunches, etc. How come they get paid more than I do? Well, that's another topic for discussion.
At the end of the day, at least I could say - I did my best for this day and to God be the Glory.

Music keeps me going
Engine Driver - from Youtube...
Sons and Daughters
Just had to share these songs. The Decemberists is one of the coolest bands I know. Witty lyrics, catchy melodies, beautiful voices. Glad that Aimee Mann (probably my all time fave singer!) sang a song from this band. That's how I came to check on them.
They also sing songs (folk ones) that stretch anywhere from 8 to more than 10 minutes! Unbelievable...

GALING!!!!

Someone's Missing. Something's Missing.
Jamie told me I should try posting. Out of boredom, I'll take his advise.
So what happened to me today? Well, yesterday I went to my former technician's (Jerome)* Birthday Party for his son (Zach). Mcdonalds. Near Eastwood. That was after work. Check the pictures I took here if you can: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=21730&id=1350427105
Today I went again to yet another children's Birthday Party - Shakey's at SM Fairview. This time from another former technician (Arnold)* of mine. Pictures to be uploaded soon. I'm still too lazy to transfer the files on my PC.
After that Kate, Moski, Vien, and I went to Gilmore and tried JT's Inasal. Bought a super bibingka (dunno whats the difference between the special and the super but super is the more expensive one) and 2 pieces carrot cake nearby for pasalubong.
As I write this initial entry, I am bothered. Something's Missing. Someone's Missing. I'm supposed to be happy yet I am not. Isn't spending time with my friends worthwhile? Of course it is and I'm glad we went out. I guess there are just insatiable things on my end that continue to annoy me. And I don't like it.
*Jerome and Arnold have been recently promoted. Proud of you guys!
